Diabetes is a metabolic disease which is characterized by an abnormal increase in the blood sugar levels.
According to the 2014 National Statistics on Diabetes, there is a Diabetes prevalence of 13% in people from the age of 20 to 79 corresponding to more than 1 million people in this age group. From the age of 60 to 79 a quarter of these people suffer from Diabetes. An important number of these patients are not diagnosed and/or are not monitored on a regular basis.
There are presently a number of treatment options for diabetics, although there is not yet a cure for this disease. Treatment should always be based on lifestyle changes with diet and exercise being important pillars.
Diabetes complications are less common and less severe in people that control their blood sugar levels. Complications are varied and can cause significant morbidity affecting various organs such as the eyes, kidneys, liver, brain and heart.
The HPA Group intends to provide diabetic patients with integrated medical consultations supported by several services which we feel is necessary for the monitoring and metabolic control of a complex and encompassing disease such as diabetes.
